Contents This is a giant guide, so please use the contents/Ctrl+F to find what you're looking for. ◦ Smithing Introduction ◦ Smithing Basics ◦ Smelting Bars ◦ Armour and Weapon Smithing ‣ Bronze Smithing ‣ Iron Smithing ‣ Steel Smithing ‣ Mithril Smithing ‣ Adamantite Smithing ‣ Runite Smithing ‣ Other Smithing ◦ Smithing Mastery Smithing Introduction Smithing is the production skill of Mining; it allows you to turn ore into bars and eventually into your own armour and weapons! As you gain a higher Smithing level, you are able to make stronger armour and weapons. You can also make a decent amount of money with higher-level Smithing! Smithing Basics To start Smithing, you will need the metal ore that you can obtain through the Mining skill. Alternative ways to obtain ores is to buy them from other players or via the Trading Post. Keep in mind, however, that this can become very expensive. There are two parts to Smithing: the first part is turning the ores into metal bars, and the second part is turning the bars into armour and weapons. Smelting Bars The first step in making your own weapons or armour is to smelt your own bars! To do this, simply go to a furnace with ores in your inventory; furnaces are located all over Alora. Notice in the above image that certain bars have black text beneath them while others are red. If they are black, that means that you have the required level to smith that bar; otherwise, if it is red, you will not be able to make it until you get the required level! You are also able to use your Magic level to superheat the ores by using the 'Superheat Item' spell, which requires level 43 in Magic. To cast this spell, you need four fire runes and one nature rune. Below, you can see what the different bars are that you can smelt and what levels they require. Bronze Bar Smithing Level Needed: 1 Primary Ore: Copper Ore Secondary Ore: Tin Ore Iron Bar Smithing Level Needed: 15 Primary Ore: Iron Ore Secondary Ore: None Silver Bar Smithing Level Needed: 20 Primary Ore: Silver Ore Secondary Ore: None Steel Bar Smithing Level Needed: 30 Primary Ore: Iron Ore Secondary Ore: 2 Coal Ore Gold Bar Smithing Level Needed: 40 Primary Ore: Gold Ore Secondary Ore: None Mithril Bar Smithing Level Needed: 50 Primary Ore: Mithril Ore Secondary Ore: 4 Coal Ore Adamantite Ore Smithing Level Needed: 70 Primary Ore: Adamantite Ore Secondary Ore: 6 Coal Ore Runite Bar Smithing Level Needed: 80 Primary Ore: Runite Ore Secondary Ore: 8 Coal Ore Armour and Weapon Smithing The next and final step is to use a hammer and an anvil to smith the bars into your own weapons and armour! Simply use the bar with an anvil and an interface will appear as illustrated below. All you have to do is left-click on the item you wish to create, or right-click on it and specify the quantity of the item to be made! Keep in mind that you will always need a hammer and a sufficient amount of bars in your inventory to smith anything! Contents ◦ Herblore Introduction ◦ Herblore Basics ◦ Herbs ◦ Potions ◦ Extra Herblore Features ◦ Herblore HiScores / Statistics ◦ Herblore Mastery ◦ Experience Table Herblore Introduction Herblore is the ancient druidic skill that allows you to mix together potions of great strength to aid you in whatever you're doing, be it requiring that extra extent of skill to craft something, or a boost of fighting prowess to make you that much more dangerous on the battlefield. Whichever option, potions are a vital part in-game, and no adventurer should be without at least one or two in their bank at any time. Herblore Basics The key items in the Herblore skill (as the name suggests) are herbs. These can be farmed or dropped by monsters (particularly Slayer creatures). When you find them, they will be 'grimy', so you must use your Herblore skill to clean them for use in a potion. In order to make potions, you will need 3 items: a vial of water, a primary ingredient (usually a type of herb), and a secondary ingredient. Use the clean herb with the vial, and then use the secondary ingredient with the unfinished potion. Vials of water can be bought at the general store ::home Secondary ingredients can also be bought at the general store. When all put together, they will create a potion with 3 doses. You can use one potion on another to share the doses (maximum of 4 doses) or use a 4 dose on an empty vial to get 2x 2 dose potions. Note that decanting potions does not require a Herblore level, nor give experience. Herbs Herbs can be found throughout Alora and will often be received in a grimy form. A handful of grimy herbs can also be bought from Kaqemeex at ::Shops. To make the herb usable, you must clean them for use in potions. This can be pretty straightforward, but each herb requires a certain Herblore level to clean. You will receive experience for cleaning herbs.
